Oktoberfest

Omg! I had a blast at Oktoberfest. It was held at Bear Mountain (Highland Falls). We parked far and for free and hiked up. Lines were long but moved smoothly. We got 2 stein souvenir glasses full of Light Spaten and pale ale. There was a lot of food and craft vendors. I purchased a worry doll (an old legend says if I put it under my pillow it will take away my worry) I was drinking..sounded good at the time. We stuffed our face with Bratwurst and Sauerkraut, Pierogie, and potato pancakes! yum!! It was a beautiful day!It runs until October 26th!

DIY Minnie Mouse Costume

Ok so last year we had just purchased a sewing machine and I was eager to try it out. So, I decided to make my own Halloween Costume. The fabric (red with white polka dots) was super easy to find in JoAnne’s fabric. I also purchased a few yards of Tulle to make the skirt pouf. The sequined Minnie Mouse ears I had from my recent trip to Disney World (great way to get another wear out of them)I had some elastic for the waistband that I got from the Stormville Flea market. We sewed the tulle to the elastic and just cut a hole in the shape of a circle in the polka dot fabric after measuring it. With excess fabric I made a collar. I paired it with a black T-shirt and a black elastic belt that I took from another skirt. I tried to find cheap taxi cab yellow heels to complete my outfit but I had no such luck. So I bought a pair of cheap heels from forever 21 and spray painted them yellow. It took a few coats but they came out really cute! I used black eye liner to fill in my nose and put my fav red lipstick on.

Me as Minnie Mouse

STK-MeatPacking District

So I have wanted to try this restaurant out for a while. I love a good Steak! I wanted to enjoy the rooftop bar/restaurant they have but weather was not good the night we went! WAH! We went on a Saturday night to celebrate my hubby’s birthday. I made a reservation on Opentable for 8pm and we were a few minutes late because of the weather and trying to find parking not too far (didn’t want to mess up my hair in the rain). The hostess was very friendly and cute! We were promptly seated. I ordered a Cucumber Stiletto Martini that consisted of St Germaine Ketel One Citron and simple syrup. I always try to order a cocktail when I go out because I can always drink wine at home. Our waiter was awesome, very attentive (and he asked for my ID which I now love since turning 30). They serve you warm sourdough bread with melted blue cheese butter on it and it comes with a green chive oil to dip it in. (Yum!) We ordered the Shrimp Rice Krispies for appetizer. Then for entree I ordered the Filet medallion that was cooked to perfection. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. Hubby ordered the beef short ribs. For dessert we chose the Birthday Cake – Almond Torte, Cookie Dough Ice Cream, and Vanilla Butter Cream (since it was hubby’s birthday). They put a candle in it and wrote happy birthday in chocolate. Everything was excellent! And I can’t think of any thing to complain about. We enjoyed our dining experience and I am looking forward to returning in the new future! craftytaramarie.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/img_5469.jpg”>IMG_5469.JPGIMG_5472.JPG

What I’m Crushing on this Fall

Crop Tops:  I love crop tops. I know they have been in style for a while. I didn’t think I could pull it off because I have no wash board stomach. But, I said F that when I saw the cutest crop tops in TopShop and purchased one I saw Beyonce rocking (LOVE Beyonce). After that I went back to Topshop and purchased some more. I figured I would pair it with knit Jogger pants to keep it casual or with a skirt to dress it up before the weather gets too cool.

Bedazzled Coat

Summer is ending and Autumn is right around the corner. With the chilly weather coming I figured I would blog about my Bedazzled coat. I saw this gorgeous coat in J Crew but it was a ridiculous amount of money.(my opinion) and I thought hey I can do that. I love jewels, rhinestones, and sparkles on things. Cuz I’m girly like that. I grabbed one of my pea coats in pink (I love pink) and I had random stones that I bought from Michael’s and others that had fallen off other items of clothing. I was a little picky when picking out stones since I wanted the stones to stay on the color theme of my coat and I didn’t want it to look tacky or cheap. I glued the stones on the collar using a glue called Mighty Gemite. I came across this glue in my house I didn’t even know I had it. It came with Mighty Mend it. (as seen on TV product). Next, I made sure that the stones were even and that it matched on both sides of the collar and BOOM a bedazzled coat. I’m sure you can use a glue gun(I’m messy with those) or an actual bedazzler ( I could not find any )to fasten the stones but I was just working with what I had. I have worn the coat several times and luckily all of the stones are still there! I love it and it looks fancy!

Brooklyn-Williamsburg

This Sunday I wanted to check out the Brooklyn Flea Also, I wanted to check out street art and in Williamsburg there is plenty! We walked around and checked out all the vendors. They had the typical vendors.. Antique clothing..collectible toys..jewelry and food vendors. I enjoyed browsing around even though it was pretty hot out. We ate some tacos from a vendor (steak and chorizo) and they were pretty good. Also we got freshly baked donuts (cinnamon sugar and dulce de leche with almonds) along with an iced coffee. The donuts at these markets are always freshly baked and amazing. We never have the willpower to not purchase one. After that we wandered around taking pictures of street art. I am getting more into photography so I wanted to get some cool shots with the street art.IMG_5327-0.JPG

Brooklyn Flea-ParkSlope and DiFara’s Pizza

I have been going to Flea Markets since I was a young girl. They used to have them at the Yonker’s Raceway in Yonkers, NY every Sunday. I would go and make my mother and father buy me a bunch of junk.(like a heart shaped pillow with Dylan from 90210 on it LOL.) I have heard good things about the Brooklyn Flea and they have a few locations in Fort Greene, Williamsburg, and Park Slope. And so one cloudy Saturday afternoon with not much to do we decided to drive out. We went to the Park Slope Flea It was really cool, they had tons of old collectible toys and shirts. They had jewelery, food and clothing vendors. We got a delicious fresh made doughnut. I got a cool looking handmade key necklace with Brooklyn engraved on it. On the way back home we stopped at the famous DiFara’s Pizza(best pizza in brooklyn they say). I would have to say I agree with them. The pizza was delicious and it was worth the long wait. We ordered 2 slices and one square slice(my fav). I dunno if it was the sauce the crust or the fresh basil it was delicious! After the first bite I took I was kicking myself for not getting a whole pie. It’s a very small pizzeria with not much seating. We sat in the car and stuffed our face.
